Minimally Invasive Diagnosis and Treatment for Digestive Health
The Endoscopy Department at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center specializes in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of disorders affecting the digestive system—specifically the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, and bile duct system—through safe, minimally invasive procedures. Using advanced endoscopic technology, our specialists can visualize internal organs in real time, identify abnormalities, and perform necessary therapeutic interventions without the need for major surgery.
Our goal is to provide a one-stop diagnostic and therapeutic service for both outpatients and inpatients of all ages, ensuring accurate results, faster recovery, and enhanced patient comfort.
Comprehensive Gastrointestinal Services
The Endoscopy Department provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures designed to address various gastrointestinal (GI) conditions. Each procedure is performed by experienced gastroenterologists and trained nurses, supported by advanced imaging equipment and sterilization systems that ensure precision, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Our Services Include:
- Gastroscopy (Upper GI Endoscopy) – Examines the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum to detect ulcers, gastritis, tumors, or bleeding sources.
- Colonoscopy – Evaluates the colon and rectum for polyps, cancer screening, inflammation, and other lower GI tract conditions.
- Proctosigmoidoscopy – Focuses on examining the rectum and lower colon for hemorrhoids, bleeding, and structural abnormalities.
- Paracentesis – Safely removes fluid from the abdominal cavity for diagnostic evaluation or symptom relief in patients with liver disease or abdominal swelling.
- ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) – Combines endoscopy and fluoroscopy to diagnose and treat conditions of the bile ducts, pancreas, and gallbladder, including gallstones and strictures.
- Fibroscan – A non-invasive ultrasound-based technology used to measure liver stiffness and assess liver fibrosis or fatty liver disease.
These procedures allow for early detection and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders—helping prevent complications and improving quality of life.
